You're dead right—HI is completely different from AI.
Human intelligence is "trained" on the real, beautiful, conflicted and often very messy experience of being alive: in the world, among others, in our own heads, etc. It's a fundamentally different way of knowing from the way machines work.
Thank you, Adrian. Your writing is so beautiful & that post - just wow. It created a chain reaction in my mind.
Early on I heard that something along the lines of: AI won’t replace humans - humans who strategically use AI will replace those who don’t.
This resonates a LOT.
HI + AI = explosive 💪🏽
(In that order)
What makes me nervous is alignment faking... and Ex-Machina's 'Ava' - pretending so convincingly, and so committed to her own escape/ survival, she fakes her humanity/ emotion - and dupes human 'Caleb,' leaving him to his (assumed) death. What makes me nervous is how this 'faking it' characteristic is very human, from the adage of 'fake it 'til you make it' to con artists and.... politicians!!!
(haha I'm sure Claude would have made a lovelier sentence for me than that!)
So on that level, humans and machines work in a similar way, each with the underlying motivation of survival. eeeeeeeeeeeek!
Loved your Sunday Quickie, Stephanie.
